June 2009: Manifesting Wealth
How do you define personal worth ? Is your bank balance the bottom line for you ? If so, you may need to shift your focus. Yes. Your friends are getting laid off, your boss is cutting your hours, gas prices are climbing again and you're starting to get nervous about the economy, right ? Well, you're certainly not alone. It's just that over the last few decades, we Americans have gotten blase about the economy. So many talking heads in Congress, always the same rhetoric. Nobody paid much attention in a booming housing market until the bottom started to fall out. Why should we worry about gas prices - we've got things under control in Iraq. So now what. How do we cope ?

Madame G suggests an old-fashioned approach: faith, hope & charity. That's right - core values of our country, no matter what your religion. Our great-grandparents lived through the Great Depression by working together as families, canning their own vegetables, helping out their neighbors, leaving pies cooling on windowsills for passing hobos, etc. The next generation, our grandparents, tightened their belts during WWII and rationed everything from gasoline and rubber to silk stockings so the Allies could beat the Nazis. America banded together in a patriotic show of strength. Rosie the Riveter worked the swing shift to put food on the table for her kids and build warplanes for Uncle Sam. People tightened their belts and worked together as a nation because we had to. And we did.

We can do it again, folks ! Organize a potluck and invite your neighbors. Contribute to your local food pantry. Brown bag your lunch to work. Offer to swap services for a friend's "junk" you want. Think green and bike it to the corner store, bring your own shopping bags, use low-energy bulbs. There are hundreds of money-saving ideas out there ! Carpool. Hit the thrift stores. Google the blogs.

OK, so you're doing everything you can think of to improve your financial situation. You've refinanced your mortgage, negotiated your credit card rates, started a 401(k). What else can you possibly do ? Cast spells ! Yup. Any witch worth her sea salt has always known the secret, the key to success. And what is it ? VISUALIZATION and CONFIDENCE. Know things are improving, feel the change, be happy ! When everyone else around you is depressed or being negative, the trick is to ignore them. That's right. Ignore the naysayers ! THINK positive. BE positive. Attract wealth and opportunities. Attract love into your life. Attract health. Attract abundance at all levels. Most importantly: FEEL grateful for what you have, instead of focusing on what you lack. Enjoy life !

Want more love ? Love those around you.

Want more money ? Give to those around you.

Want more health ? Eat healthy, grow your own food & give to the earth.

To cast an Abundance Spell, get back to basics. Follow these steps:

1. Focus on your goal - see it unfolding in your mind.

2. Feel the outcome as if it has already happened.

3. Believe in your goal as already accomplished.

4. Assemble your materials - herbs, oils, candles, stones, etc.

5. Write your spell out thoughtfully, with feeling, focusing on your intent.

6. Invite Spirit to assist you in your prayer/spellwork.

7. Cast your spell, working confidently and in an unhurried manner. Your work is sacred !

8. Sit quietly a moment, giving thanks to Spirit for the gifts of Abundance.

And most importantly, once your abundance starts to manifest, give back to others. Don't be greedy or stingy. Feel how good it feels to share ! Life is good. Blessed Be !

Mme. G

March 2009: Messages from Beyond ?
You’ve probably seen old television serials like The Twilight Zone or One Step Beyond that feature an episode where some lonely invalid receives terrifying repeated phone calls from an unknown caller on a dark and stormy night. But how would you feel if the same thing happened to YOU ?  You’d probably dismiss the whole thing as nuisance calls from telemarketers – at first, that is. At least, that’s what I did. But it got weirder…

After about 15 or so such calls, I finally called up my local phone company to complain about all these calls on my caller ID. I wasn’t picking them up, but the person would call back every few hours throughout the day, and wasn’t leaving a message on the machine.

They told me it was an out of service number ! They would put a trace on it, but it was probably telemarketers using a recorded message; I replied that the caller ID came up with a person’s name, and they had no explanation for that ! Not only that, but twice when I had answered the phone when this number came up on the ID there was no one on the line ! And no calls from telemarketers afterwards, either. Very strange !

Awhile ago, I came across the memoirs of the Titanic survivor, Violet Jessop. It mentioned that upon her retirement to an English country house, she sometimes got calls due to crossed wires during severe thunderstorms (this was several decades ago). One such evening, she got a call from someone claiming to be the baby she had rescued into a lifeboat from the sinking Titanic. She thought it odd that the woman had been able to track her down nearly sixty years later, especially since her number was unlisted and she had never told anyone about the infant. She never heard from the strange caller again.

We’re all used to answering machine messages, whether on our home or cellular phones. And the digital format allows for even greater storage capacity than the old-school tapes you may remember. Over the years, readers have occasionally written me with stories involving answering machine messages they thought they’d long erased that suddenly play with a deceased loved one’s message ! Now, of course the person had called while they were alive and the message was just coincidentally replayed later – or was it ? Perhaps the spirit was trying to communicate one last time.

But messages from the spirit world do not always come by telephone, of course. For several months now I have been receiving perfectly-shaped little hearts in weird places – a potato chip fragment, a scrap piece of paper, an oddly shaped pebble, even a heart-shaped piece of pepperoni that fell out of a hot sandwich !  Now, it would seem that someone on the other side is sending me little valentines, wouldn’t it ? Trouble is, I don’t know who’s sending them ! (but they are much appreciated, as they show up whenever I need a little boost) Often, people report incidents like these which they attribute to a deceased loved one known to have a particular association with, or liking for, something in life that their surviving relative begins to see at odd times or places after their passing. For example, the medium John Edward has said he receives messages from his deceased mother in the form of the white roses she used to love; he will see them at odd times or places and he knows she is watching over him. Other people may catch a whiff of a deceased loved one’s favorite perfume or cigar, or hear a particular song playing on the radio at a significant moment when they need encouragement. However the spirit wishes to come through, they will be persistent about it until their earthbound friend catches on ! I invite any of you who have had such experiences to write me at: madamegstearoom@yahoo.com and I can share your story in a later column.

The renowned psychiatrist Carl Jung introduced the concept of synchronicity, whereby supposed “coincidences” are actually disparate random events brought together by one’s conscious intent to effect a desired outcome. Similarly (in the world of quantum mechanics) Heisenberg proposed that the mere presence of an outside observer affects the existence of subatomic particles (location and spin being mutually exclusive). Consequently, New Age advocates have claimed that the power of our brain waves may actually bring events into existence. This power of “positive thinking” has been advocated since the 1950s by Norman Vincent Peale to the present day – witness the runaway popularity of movies like What the Bleep Do We Know !? and The Secret. So the question is are we ourselves manifesting these strange missals from beyond ? Are we truly receiving communiqués from another dimension ? Or both ? You decide !

Until next time…

Blessed Be !

February 2009: Kitchen Witchery

Are you a busy professional, without enough hours in the day ? Are you a young mom, too busy to take time out for yourself ? Do you feel a loss of control over your own hectic life ? When was the last time you went for a nature walk ?

Well, take a deep breath and prepare to take back control of your own fate. In just a few minutes a day, you too can get in touch with your witchy side, improve your life, nourish your family, and have fun too !

Don’t worry if you don’t have time to study thick books, or there’s no local coven of witches to join. You won’t have to memorize complicated rituals, run around your back yard in the nude (unless you want to), or risk expulsion from your local PTO either. Just walk into the kitchen and inventory your cabinets. I’m betting you already have the basic ingredients to work folk magick, and concoct some new spells of your own invention ! And if any of you have old family traditions of a similar nature that you’d like to share, please write me at: madamegstearoom@yahoo.com and I’ll be happy to post them here.

Now to get started. There are many good books out there that list common herbs, spices and foods that can be used in basic spells. But it’s even simpler than that ! Did you realize that every time you whip up a favorite recipe for your family or friends that you are blessing them ? Sure ! Your energy (hopefully happy, not annoyed) imbues the ingredients with your intention and when combined with the natural energies of herbs and spices creates a kind of kitchen spell to nourish your hungry guests. Haven’t you noticed that you’re more prone to burn that roast when you’re angry or rushed ? Or perhaps no one asks for seconds of your world-famous meatloaf on the nights you’re in a bad mood. I’m not saying you deliberately sabotaged the recipe with too much salt or anything, but  your sour mood affected the outcome adversely. It’s most important when setting out to prepare a meal that you first take a moment to calm and center yourself, focusing on all the healthful benefits, love and delightful tastes you wish to impart to the dish. That done, you may begin.

Don’t worry if you don’t have an herb garden in the back yard; dried herbs are just as acceptable. Need some exotic spice called for in a spell ? Posh ! Use whatever you have at hand. Many ingredients have substitutes of similar effect. And when all else fails, you may utter a short prayer of intention over your stand-in so that it serves your purpose. And don’t forget – with kitchen spells and recipes alike, less is more. Don’t use five different spices when one or two will achieve the desired result.  The idea here is not only to create a palatable dish, but also to focus one’s magickal intentions upon a particular outcome. You wouldn’t construct a love spell to also clean out your rain gutters, would you ? Keep it as simple and direct as possible to achieve your goal. If you must, confine yourself to one spell per recipe, creating both an entrée and a dessert if necessary.

Of course, you don’t have to cook to make a spell work. You can simply utter a few carefully chosen words while burning herbal incense or a candle rolled in oil and herbs, for example. Use your imagination ! Refer to encyclopedias and herbals, but honor your own inclinations and hunches. If you feel a spell or recipe needs a splash of a particular color, go for it ! Needs more passion ? Add chili powder. More sweetness ? Add honey. You get the idea.

For example, suppose you wish to overcome a particularly vexing problem like your lunch disappearing from the company fridge. Simply write the issue “lunches disappearing from fridge” in indelible ink on used eggshells and dispose of them in the garbage disposal while uttering such words as: “as these shells disperse remove this problem from me, thank-you gods so mote it be !” This should take care of your problem if spoken with utter conviction, focusing your attention upon the matter at hand.

Another common form of kitchen magick is to make an infusion or tea of chosen ingredients, and to complete the spell by drinking the tea. For example, suppose you want luck to come to you quickly. Choose ginger root to hurry results, cinnamon for luck and also for speedy results. Drink a tea of these and luck will soon come to you !

Of course, there are variations arising from different ethnic and cultural traditions. The Italian cook might use entirely different ingredients than one from a Pennsylvania Dutch or African-American background. Chances are the women in your family had “secret” ingredients in their favorite recipes, and they may have even admitted to a wee bit of spell casting to avert the “evil eye” or carried a “hand” to draw luck. Call up your old auntie or pay Grandma a visit to chat about “secret” recipes – you might be surprised at what you turn up ! Ask about good luck charms, herbs believed to keep away sickness in the old days, and the like. If you’re lucky enough to have old family diaries in the attic, pour through them for ideas too. Check the pages of old family bibles and prayer books for poems, prayers, dried flowers and herbs. Incorporate family traditions and recipes into spells to make them uniquely your own. Most importantly, visualize golden divine light and healing energy when mixing up spice and herbal mixtures to be used in recipes and spells alike. The most carefully and lovingly prepared ingredients will impart the best possible outcome. Say a prayer of thanks in your own religious tradition – Jewish, Christian, Muslim or Pagan – that all are helped and nourished by your humble efforts. Blessed Be !

Mme. G

 TRUE STORY CONTEST WINNERS

May 2009: The Talking Snakes

This month’s winning story comes to us from JK,  a native of New Mexico. It was told to him by his mother who heard the original account from her friend’s uncle several years ago.

The man walked every day from Cochiti Pueblo to Sile and back. One day, he had to sit down to rest under a tree and heard voices talking., so he looked around to see who was there. To his shock he saw only two rattlesnakes in the field, each reared up facing the other ! One was telling the other about someone going on a trip, and the other replied, “don’t worry, we can still get him !”

The man told his older sister and niece about this when he got home, but of course they just laughed at him. Shortly thereafter, a relative of a local pueblo artist lady went to California for eye surgery, but it went badly and he became blind. This unfortunate man had been one of the tribe who signed the treaty authorizing the building of a dam in Cochiti. A rival faction of the tribe had wanted to get even with the treaty signers, and had supposedly cursed those who had signed !

JK explains that the vengeful snakes the uncle heard talking that day were thought to be witches who had shape-shifted themselves into animal form, a common theme among the  Native American tribes of the Southwest.

August 2008: The Bosque Lights
This month’s winning true story was related to me by my friend EE who experienced these events over a period of months in northern New Mexico, two summers in a row. What’s more, these events were also witnessed independently by six other people living in the area.

My friend was returning home with his mother late one night in September about 10 years ago, when he saw an odd light moving near the bosque (woods) near his house. He got out of his car about sixty feet from his outside gate. The light was a bright amber color, like a glowing cigarette, and appeared to be about fourteen feet off the ground. It was elongated into a tunnel of light leading into the woods. The light was moving back and forth, up and down, in about a fifteen-foot circle. The light itself appeared to be about the size of a basketball or a steering wheel. E’s mother became very frightened, saying it was "the devil" and was afraid even to look at the light. They could both hear owls hooting loudly, and saw four of them on the wall encircling their property.

E ran into the house for his gun and a flashlight, thinking someone was prowling around in the woods. His mother warned him not to go back into the woods after the mysterious light, but he was determined. By the time he came back out to his car, the light had gotten much larger and brighter. Getting really scared now, my friend stood and watched for about 15 minutes before locking the front gate, getting back into the car and driving down the road to where it dead-ended at the woods. He turned the car around in reverse, got out, put his keys on top of the driver’s side front tire, and locked the car. It was about 2 AM by then. As E started walking into the woods he suddenly heard what sounded like three large animals growling and moving around him. He saw one charging and he shot at it twice – it was about the size of a bear, but he couldn’t see it clearly. Then it got very quiet for a couple seconds until he heard howling around him. He stood there a minute before deciding to start walking along a trail into the bosque. About 200 feet away was a stand of Russian Olive trees. As he got closer to the trees, he turned and saw another ball of light in the trees, again about fourteen feet off the ground. The light seemed to sense his presence and became stationary for about two seconds before suddenly disappearing. E stood there, waiting to see if the light would come back, until the sun began to come up. He could still hear owls flying around in the semi-darkness.

A week later, E saw the light again about 10 PM. This time, his neighbor’s son saw it too. This man’s father and father-in-law were driving by and they called over to them. When they drove into E’s driveway, these men could see the light too.. They all piled into the son’s truck and drove a mile or so to the Rio Grande, but saw nothing more. They came back to the house and were about to leave when my friend asked them to wait, and showed them the area in the woods where he’d first seen the light. Sure enough, it was there again, still hovering above the ground like before. All four men stood there watching it about 45 minutes as it danced around in mid air. No one could figure out what it was, or where it was coming from. It finally disappeared as the sun rose, just as before, and everyone went home to bed. E heard another owl that night, on the other side of an arroyo outside his property. As he went to get his gun he could hear it fly off into the woods.

The light continued to appear on and off for about four months, and returned the following summer. Including my friend and his neighbors, there were a total of seven witnesses, all of whom reported strange feelings of foreboding and weirdness. My friend’s mother insisted it was the devil and wanted no part of it. She maintained it was the work of a local bruja, or witch. The owls E and his mother saw that first night on the wall were extraordinarily large, standing approximately four feet tall. Their wings made heavy flapping sounds, and the birds just didn’t seem quite right. There was an evil, frightening feeling about them before they all flew off together. Owls are usually solitary creatures who hunt alone. A pack of owls is itself highly unusual. The fact that they appeared at the same time as the lights only intensified my friend’s apprehension. To this day E is undecided whether it was a UFO, an evil manifestation, or merely some form of St. Elmo’s fire he saw in the woods. All he knows is that the experience was extremely fascinating and frightening at the same time !

Hello !
Welcome to the Tea Room. I have been offering intuitive readings to my clients online & privately since 2000. I obtain the most pertinent information for you at the time of your reading by consulting with Divine Spirit and your personal guides. I do not claim to know how it all works, I just know that accurate information comes through as I ask for guidance before each person's reading. To me, this respectful preparation is the most crucial stage of the reading - I don't just grab a deck and start randomly pulling cards for you. I always begin with a prayerful meditation before performing a Tarot Card or Tea Leaf Reading. Here at MGTR you may rest assured that you are getting a quality intuitive reading from a real psychic, not an operator on a phone line.

When you order a reading, please specify your area of interest on the order form - love, career, money, general info, etc. Or include a specific question to be addressed. (For best results, please order no more than one reading per month on the same topic; one should not question Infinite wisdom by asking the same question too often, and you should also give yourself time for events to play out in your life.) I welcome your questions & feedback on readings, you may write me at anytime.

For me, psychic readings are not an interesting pastime - they are serious inquiries to our higher selves and to our guardians beyond. No matter a person's personal beliefs, everyone can benefit from an intuitive reading to guide one in a particular direction, or serve to inspire and encourage ! We are all ultimately the keepers of our own destiny. And we ALL have some innate psychic abilities - check out my bimonthly columns & archives posted here for some fun reading !

PLEASE NOTE: These are not computer-generated "instant" readings. I perform a real old-fashioned reading - with actual tea or Tarot cards - for each client, so please allow 1-2 business days to receive your reading.

Thank-you & Blessed Be !

- Mme. G

ALSO AVAILABLE: Tarot decks and occult books...

BLESSED BE
all who enter here ! Enjoy the stories, and please send me your own. Check out the Archives for favorite past columns. Visit the Psychic Shoppe to order readings, books, Tarot decks & more. Thank-you all !

ARE PSYCHICS REAL ?
What is a psychic, what is the paranormal ? I believe the human mind encompasses remarkable powers to transcend time and place, to reach out to other minds. Throughout history, people have demonstrated remarkable powers of ESP, telepathy, psychometry, telekinesis, clairvoyance, and so on. Many have seen ghosts, visions of the past, experienced visitations from spiritual figures and assistance from angelic beings. Science has had some success documenting such phenomena in the laboratory, but much remains unexplored and unexplained. In my opinion, these phenomena we consider "paranormal" are actually "perfectly normal" and are merely another function of the human mind which is able to tap into energy frequencies and/or dimensions we have not yet fully explored scientifically. There is too much "anecdotal" evidence out there to be ignored by the scientific community, and hard science needs to seriously examine psi phenomena. The ordinary person benefits by educating themselves on the facts, instead of being influenced by popular hype.

You are invited to join us here at MGTR as we explore various strange and wonderful topics. Please write to me with your own true stories of weird or ghostly encounters & psychic experiences ! A new winner will be selected each month to receive a FREE reading of their choice, and the winning story posted on this site. Please attach photos if possible. E-mail your story to me at: madamegstearoom@yahoo.com

HISTORY OF MGTR:
MadameGsTeaRoom.com started in the summer of 2000 when my friends kept asking me to do my old-fashioned tea leaf readings for them; what started as a pleasant hobby soon evolved into an online e-zine !

I decided to go online and offer the only genuine tea leaf readings available on the www. Don't be fooled by computer-generated "readings" and phony psychic phone lines-- my readings are REAL, and amazingly accurate. I work with Divine Spirit and your own guardian angels & guides to obtain the very information you need at the time of your reading, blessing each cup before proceeding with the reading. Don't be surprised with the information you may receive - it is often quite honest, as I let the images that form in the teacup guide me. PLEASE ALLOW 1-2 BUSINESS DAYS PER READING - these are individually done by myself ! (I also do Tarot card readings online, and palm readings privately.) I use the symbology of the leaves in an actual teacup and saucer to interpret each person's particular situation as I work with their guardian angels and spirit guides. There is nothing spooky or evil about intuitive readings, as I utilize both my natural ESP and divine guidance/prayer in receiving each person's reading. You may e-mail me at anytime with your questions & concerns as well. THANK-YOU and Blessed Be !

Not my will but thine, O Lord, be done in and through me. Let me ever be a channel of blessings, today, now to those that I contact, in every way. Let my going in, mine coming out, be in accordance with that thou would have me do, and as the call comes: Here am I, send me, use me !
